We are a very friendly, well established retail store with experienced and knowledgeable staff. Our ethos is to provide all our customers with an unrivalled service and to serve all in a courteous and welcoming environment. We sell most types of guitars (acoustic and electro-acoustic guitars are our speciality) amps, keyboards, sheet music, huge range of accessories, and are specialists in digital pianos and digital piano rental. Our On-site guitar repair workshop run by highly qualified time served luthiers, provides a complete service for all manner of repairs, customising, upgrades and restoration. Fast turnaround on most repair services. On-site tuition also at South End Music School, specialising in individual tuition on Piano/keyboards/guitar and vocals.
Terrible attitude from certain members of staff, I wouldn't recommend this store to my worst enemy.
Armed with £700 cash in my back pocket, I paid a visit to Martin Phelps to buy an amplifier. Upon entering, the sole member of staff was busy helping another customer, but acknowledged that I was there and said he'd deal with me once he was done. Fair enough. He then dealt with other customers who entered the store after me whilst I'm stood at the counter like a right lemon. 30 minutes passed before I lost patience (and parking time) and left. What poor customer service, instead of dealing with the other customers efficiently, he decided to talk guitars with each one for long periods of time, knowing that I was waiting to try out some amps, unable to get a word in as upselling fret polisher was much more important than selling an amp! If you want a guitar shop with excellent customer service, I suggest Feline Guitars around the corner, or Newtons in Merstham who understand the concept.
Martin Phelps is a friendly music shop mainly selling guitars but also selling keyboards, violins, flutes and banjos... If your looking for a guitar, they will have it. They also sell amps and effects plus accesories like tuners and strings. They also have a great workshop in the back where i have had many a repair done. The downsides are they don't stock Marshall of Gibson.
