  • 1 Pathetic excuse for a Xmas meal. Better off down the market caff.

I have shown people the picture of what was served up as the main meal. Fillet steak, chips and salad. Most people have said That is after you have eaten half of it right? When they bought the meal out there was about the same amount of salad as you would find in a big mac and four (4) chips on the plate. When we complained they did fetch additional chips. I left the place as they were bringing out other peoples puddings. The orange sorbet the man opposite me had ordered was a tiny half of an orange in a wine glass with the sorbet cut flat to the edge of the orange. Truely the worst christmas meal our team has ever been to. Absolutely pathetic!

My girlfriend and myself have experienced La Brasa.A quite simple looking from the outside, family run resturant. The specials menu in the window teased my girlfriend an me into a quite small, dark and old spanish style decor(7-10 tables). We were passed a laminated A4 sized menu with limted range and a lack of info about the dishes,we questioned the head waiter(an older spanish gentleman)about the specials that we had seen in the window, one special we asked about was the meatball dish, which intern seemed to confuse him,he then showed us a little blackbord by the door entrance(which the majority of tables wouldnt be able to see)with 5 special starter items,he then intern started to rattle of about 10 dishes in a slurred mixed english/spanish.We asked again about the menu board outside and still if meatballs were available,he stumbled of saying he will find out for us.After 10-20 minutes of waiting for his return, only to say to us,are you ready to place your order. With this tiresome effort,we pre empted his memory loss and pre decided from the laminated carded menu. It's only really reading some reviews that we discover this waiters strange ways are caused because he proberlly likes the vino.THE FOOD,Starter was simple and average, every dish pretty much comes with a bit of 70s styled salad decor. The main course, the steak was good and the sauce was ok,but once again quite average.La Brasa is not the quickest in serving,2 hours spent in total,we were only a table of two at a half filled resturant. It felt like a life time spent sitting on very hard basic chairs.La Brasa looks and feels like it has potential, with all the amazing and teasing specials in the window menu, but felt let down by a very confused, half drunk waiter restricting choice for customers. With a bit more thought into the trimmings for there good steak and chicken dishes, plus and finally the prices need to show in there quantity..When are mains came out they had a teasing three chips and then a small bowl brought out for two people to share, not reasonable when your paying 17 pounds a main dish..19/30.
