After a recent Board Meeting we had to express our satisfaction and how delighted we are with the results that the Sheriffs Office has obtained for us. It is particularly pleasing as The Sheriffs Office dealt with positively, many cases where we had given up hope of ever seeing payments again. Our credit control team are a great deal happier and value the work the The Sheriffs Office undertakes The Sheriffs Office is extremely professional and very helpful. We would have no problem in recommending their services to others

  • 1 NIGHTMARE, VERY STRESSFUL, AVOID THIS COMPANY!

I was owed over £7,000 and appointed The Sheriff’s Office to collect. A decision I regret. I did all the work for them - I even completed all the forms including the Fieri Facia etc. I was going to visit the Debtor myself with the paperwork which I wish I had done now but as the Sheriffs Office advised me their fees, which they said would be around £1000, would be paid by the debtor I instructed them to visit the Debtor and collect the money which I knew wouldn't take very long to do. The Sherrifs Office sent one of their debt collectors to the Debtor's address and they were in and out within 30 MINUTES. The Sheriffs Office were paid not £1000 which they told me but over £2000! Yet they made me wait over 6 WEEKS for payment making all the excuses under the sun. I had to chase the amount through numerous telephone calls and emails which was very time consuming and stressful and, in addition, my money I received from The Sheriffs Office was £135.55 short! I may sue them in the future for this amount. However, to draft proceedings against them will be time consuming so taking into consideration the amount involved I will ponder this action. In summary, my experience with The Sheriffs Office was terrible and very stressful and in hindsight I wish I had collected the money myself – I had the necessary paperwork from the High Court to do so. I eventually dealt with the joint managing director, David Carter, whose attitude was awful – he told a number of lies to cover up The Sheriffs Office’s incompetence and arrogantly told me that if I wanted to sue them then go ahead. There are many debt collecting firms out there who can collect money at all levels and, trust me on this, you will regret having anything to do with The Sheriffs Office

  • 5 Excellent, faultless, first class!

As you can imagine, it was quite a traumatic ordeal fighting a county court case that lasted around two years, but when you are convinced you are in the right it is something you must do, whatever obstacles are thrown in your way. Eventually judgment was made in my favour and the court awarded me damages with an order they be paid within 14 days. Needless to say no money was forthcoming and I was unsure what to do next. The court advised I talk to the Sheriff's Office in Croydon, so I did, and that proved a major turning point. The very next morning somebody turned up in Cardiff to meet me and guide me through the options. I duly filled in the paperwork, paid a small legal fee, and within days they were onto the case. Despite encountering various difficulties along the way, the SO kept me regularly updated, both by email and on the phone with regard all actions they were taking on my behalf, For several weeks they worked what seemed like unceasingly on the case, I was amazed when out of the blue they contacted me to say they had successfully collected the money which has now been delivered to me, with interest and full refund of the small legal fee. From the time they were first brought in on the case to money being in my bank account was no more than six weeks. Thank you so much SO – a job well done! A shining example to us all!. Anyone wanting a reference about their work – just ask!
