We founded Irenicon in 1980 to help employers make employment law work for them. We were always a mixed disciplinary practice – something quite revolutionary at the time.
Over the years we have worked with some wonderful organisations, pushing the boundaries of how employment law can really be made to work without restricting the flow of the organisation.
During 2009 we had some heartbreaking enquiries from organisations who really needed our help but couldn't afford our services. We have also developed a big client base of individuals who can't always afford one-to-one support for everything. We looked at ways of providing the quality of service we take so much pride in, in a cheaper way.
You told us you didn't want us to hire cheaper employees with less experience, or dumb down what we do. You told us you didn't want to have to read lots of manuals or read lots of paperwork or follow other people's ‘rules' and policies...
Our answer has been to group clients with common problems and create a KoffeeKlatch where we can support you together and reduce the cost per client. You can buy KoffeeKlatch for a group of managers, or a group of friends with the same problem, or buy one just for you.
The same experienced advisory team, the same common sense approach to your problems – available in a new way.
Regulated by the Claims Management Regulator in respect of regulated claims management activities relating to employment matters – registration no. CRM 18209. We carry professional indemnity insurance so you know we back our advice properly.

Both Annabel Kaye and Christopher Head offered no-nonsense, practical advice with regards to an employment tribunal I was facing. I had suspected a former worker would attempt to take me to Tribunal, a huge concern for a start-up business! Annabel originally suggested practical ways in which to try settle the dispute and avoid the Tribunal. However the former worker decided to proceed to the ET. Christopher then advised on how to prepare for the ET and talked me through the process. He suggested some potential defences and as I was representing myself, how to word these appropriately when facing the Tribunal. One of Christopher’s suggestions particularly strengthened my side of the case. I was happy with the settlement. Facing an ET is incredibly stressful, so it’s good to have knowledgeable, calm and collected legal advisers on your side . I highly recommend KoffeeKlatch as a valuable service.

Having attended the Koffee Klatch seminar about Freelancing, I went on to purchase the Freelancer Agreement. The seminar was very interesting and brought up many things I hadn’t even considered when putting together a Freelance Agreement and discerning between what could be considered employed/self-employed status. It was great to have Annabel’s legal insight which has probably saved me a great deal of time and trouble. The Freelancer Agreement is clearly written and easy to understand. Not only do you get a legal document, but also easy to understand Guidelines which explain everything and a super follow up by Annabel or Christopher in case there’s anything you don’t understand or need help with. Excellent service and value for money! Thank You!
